Kate Moss lights up during a Louis Vuitton show. Gasp!
This diva makes me sweat and cower in fear. Somehow I admire her ability to be insanely badass.

Diva litmus test

25 ways to spot a diva according to Victoria

1. Heels at the airport. Enough said. Only a true diva sacrifices comfort for beauty. (For the record:  I'm not endorsing heels at the aiport, give your feet and your heels a break.)

2. She wears leather pants everywhere.

3. Use of the words, "I'll wait." A really diva knows when you only get one shot. "I'll wait for Diddy to get out of his meeting, thanks."

4. 6 months go by and this individual has entirely reinvented herself. She has a new look, a new book out, a new man, and a new set of ideas. She rocks.

5. She wears or rocks anything BIG. Big coats, big hats, big jewels, big men, big ideas, etc.

6. She understands other cultures and thinks intolerance is gross.

7. She uses the subway, when it's convenient.

8. This potential Diva is a member of the anti-swoon movement, she doesn't think everything is lovely or precious, she isn't smitten or over the moon with polka dots, kate spade, and things that are old fashioned. She loves French culture and all that implies, but doesn't obsess too much over Paris. Who am I kidding - I love Paris.

9. She knows the lyrics to several rap songs and isn't afraid to admit it (or rap).

10. She is Zsa Zsa Gabor, J-lo, Madonna, Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Taylor or Victoria from that Diva in Distress blog.

11. She uses the word, Darling, sparingly.

12. She has a PHD that she only uses on the weekends.

13. She has no problem saying no! No thanks! See you later! This isn't for me! Sayonara!

14. Wearing any dress and at anytime she is not afraid to D-A-N-C-E. In fact, she has this beautiful way of dancing and pretending that no one notices.

15. She wears pink to the DMV or foreign consulate.

16. She wakes up next to you and says, " Last night, I dreamt about Marc Jacobs new collection."

17. She collects {insert noun} (dolls, unicorns, spoons, and stuffed animals do not count and -1 Diva Point.).

18. She spends $50 to repair shoes that originally cost $35, because, to her, it's worth it.

19. If you really got to know her you would find that she is humble and mispronounces some French words.

20. Instead of walking, she struts.

21. She sometimes has tantrums, but only in private.

22. She doesn't need a reasonable excuse to have a second martini.

23. She shamelessly buys coffee table books because she likes them.

24. She isn't ashamed to occasionally objectify men.

25. Her umbrella matches her outfit. This is on purpose folks!

Arianna Huffington Gets Winklevii’d

Reminiscent of Facebook's Mark Zuckerburg, Arianna Huffington (Genius Diva) is being sued by two politicial consultants, Peter Daou and James Boyce, who claim a critical role in creating her top-ranked Web site, the Huffington Post.

If you ask me, AH should tell them to kiss her heinie for waiting six years to claim credit.

Click here for the nymag article.

Love the use of the new term Winklevii (from the social network) - Genius!

Being realistic is the easiest path to mediocrity

Last night's episode of the millionaire matchmaker featured a plus-size diva seeking a hunk. Robin Kassner is worth millions and knows exactly what she wants, a handsome prince. The matchmaker found her to be superficial and delusional.

Here is a quote from an interview she gave to huffpo. I love it! I lover her audacity, her brazenness, and her (uuhhhhh) wisdom.

"Patti called me delusional and I took it as a compliment. Truly successful people have to be somewhat delusional. Only delusional people change the world. Being realistic is the easiest path to mediocrity. People thought getting in a metal tube and flying around the world was unrealistic, but the Wright Brothers didn't think so. People thought flicking a switch and filling a room with light was delusional, but Thomas Edison didn't think so. As a young woman, I run one of the most successful beauty and fashion firms in New York, I own a fabulous apartment in Manhattan, I drive a Mercedes and live the life I love. Most people would think those goals were delusional, but luckily, I go after my dreams."

Uh... diva alert?

Well done Robin. Click here for more of Robin's interview. Click here for an inspirational dance sequence from Save the Last Dance.

Mer des amis

Important news: I'm going to be a successful fashion designer! I dream about this almost daily! Apparently so does my darling Kate.

If it "came" to Kate in a dream it's bound to come true (Channeling Goethe right now, dream it, begin it, check!).

Here is a correspondence between me and one of my longest standing friends:

me: I miss you! I loved spending time with you in Guatemala!
Kate: Awwww, ditto.
me: It was really awesome.
Kate: It was, wasn't it?
Kate: OMG! I almost forgot! I had a dream after I got back that you were having a fashion show of your designs. You had me model in it and I hated you for it, because everyone else was skinny.
me: Haha! I love that dream. It means I will become a successful designer someday.
Kate: I kept saying, "No, I'm a size 12. It doesn't make sense!" LOL
me: That's funny and very much something I would do. (Note: Kate is one of my most beautiful friends and would certainly be featured in my fashion show.)

In my lifetime, I have had the pleasure of having hundreds of friends. Male friends, female friends, related friends, best friends, party friends, yoga friends, shopping friends, ex-pat friends, funny friends, diva friends, travel friends, and now blog friends.

I've learned that there isn't a relationship more rewarding than female friendship. Female friends empower and encourage each other, help each other bring visions to fruition, and support each other when they are feeling blue.  They also keep you on your toes by being their fabulous driven selves.
Thanks for the vision Kate!

J-Lissimo studded sandals

I must confess: I have a stud fetish. There is a strong likelihood that I bedazzle the clothes of my future children, it's that serious.

These louie louies are absolutely divine. Emma Watson wore the Christian Louboutin J-Lissimo sandals in the November issue of Marie Claire.

Available online at Barneys.

Georgia on my mind

Has everyone seen Georgia May Jagger modeling for Chanel's Cruise 2010-11 Saint Tropez lookbook?

It was the opening ad in this week's New York Magazine. I know Georgia has some critics, but I think she is a stunner. Makes me want to sing this song.

Georgia, Georgia
The whole day through
Just sweet Georgia
Keeps Chanel on my mind

Here is my favorite look from the collection. Love this!

And this!

I officially have a girl crush on this stunning diva.

What will you do with the extra hour this weekend?

Every year on the first Sunday of November we adjust our clocks and "fall back" to Standard Time at 2 a.m. Oh happy day! An extra hour of freedom this weekend! I will spend my extra hour doing one of following:

1. Cuddling with my husband
2. Blogging
3. Watching Xtina run the NYC marathon
4. Drinking hot beverages and day dreaming
5. Having a long brain storming session with my darling Anu

Maybe I'll do each of these for 12 minutes so I won't have to choose. Let's face it, when you are a distressed diva every minute of the weekend counts!

Here are some fun ways to use your extra hour this weekend:

1. Have a jump roping contest (Fun and it burns calories)
2. Go to the MOMA and see this
3. Try to recall quotes from your favorite teenage drama (e.g. my so called life, 90210, etc.) with one of your besties and laugh hysterically
4. Join a national novel writing month forum and get started on that novel. You are only 4 days behind!

Baby baby baby

I'm new to this whole blogging thing and therefore, quite unsure about reposting from other blogs. However, one of the themes of this blog is careers... and because I'm always impressed with women who make a statement in the "workplace" - I have to repost.

This is Licia Ronzulli, Italy's MEP, at a voting session of the European Parliament.

In this weekend's FT I read an article on Elle Machpherson and her lingerie empire (who would have thought? Elle Mac a lingerie goddess?), where she said, "Her work is an ever-changing kind of environment."Doesn't this picture depict that as well? Licia's main point here is women's rights and what-not, but as women we are constantly juggling and living/working in an ever-changing environment(with baby or with not). Our roles (as women) far surpass our day jobs (in Licia's case Italy's MEP!!) they include mother, sister, stylist, interior designer, diva, lover, caregiver, chef, educator...

Licia Ronzulli I applaud you. I'm humbled by your civil disobedience and gumption.

p.s. Isn't Licia such a beautiful name?

Ode to my sister

This is my favorite picture of me and my sister, Erica. Doesn't it look so cool and vintagesque? This post is dedicated to her, she is my best friend, confidant, and maid of honor. This is a photo of us at my Kindergarten graduation and a good depiction of how we spend our lives together, side by side.

Here is a list of reasons why I love and can't live without her:

1. She looks great in colors like this or this.

2. She loves lavender and lavender-scented items like the diva extrodinaire Jordan Reid.

3. She is a silent killer and can beat almost anyone at trivial pursuit.

4. She doesn't need these or these to be happy.

5. She knows all of my silly movie references from films like What About Bob, Karate Kid, Back to the Future, and Adventures in Babysitting.

6. She is totally modest.

7. She can find the humor in anything.

8. Her laugh is both confusing and contagious.

9. She is a true diva.

10. She is an amazing listener and a totally selfless person.
