S/S 2011 issue 15 explores nudity as an indicator of the seasonality of fashion - I really enjoyed this issue. I especially enjoy the contrast between the 19th century sculpture by Artistide Maillol and french-mega-model Laetitia Casta, as shown on this cover. I love the exploitation of sex in fashion. No one is exempt! Even the most modest of frocks has a certain sensuality about it.

A zen experience

Two nights ago I attended a Buddhist chant. The setting was a beautiful upper west side apartment and the participants were a group of truly diverse, yet unified, individuals.  It was a very interesting and powerful experience. It brought me back to that warm afternoon in Brazil when we visited a natural spring waterfall.

The parallels are endless, both experiences were cleansing, invigorating, and awakening. More than anything they both brought forth a sense of unity or connection. At the chant I realized that we are all made up of those people who "chant" with us. At the waterfall I felt nature's power to support and renew us.

p.s. Who says that we shouldn't go chasing waterfalls? TLC!

Amor confundido

Isn't all love confusing? Don't we sometimes wonder why we feel that unstoppable urge or pull towards someone. Between us, I'm pretty sure that when I'm throwing a (mild) tantrum my husband is wondering how he ended up with a fiery diva like myself, instead of a calm and collected lass who is more like him.

Fun in the sun

Did you know that I once met a professional skater (skateboarder) at a music festival who proceeded to call me at my house to only get the wrath of my 3-year old brother. Yup, that's right folks. I could be Mrs. Victoria Skateboarder Extreme. I could be.

Music festivals are a great way to enjoy the summer months, assuming it doesn't rain. But should it rain that is an opportunity for a little muddy love. Everyone remembers Kate Moss's infamous fashion statement at Glastonbury music festival a few years back. If you don't, just know that after she rocked the "wellies" to the concert hunter boots started to appear everywhere. Wellies were once reserved for stable hands, fishermen and other sloppy lads, but after Miss Moss wore them rubber chaos ensued.

Speaking of England...just passed is the infamous Cornbury festival in England. The July extravaganza was such a success that the producers are selling a compilation CD of some of the 40 (or so) bands who performed. Pre-order your CD here and maybe throw your own music festival... a one day adventure that includes a backyard mosh-pit.

I've heard great things about the yearly music festival, Coachella from my friends on the west coast. I took a peak at the 2011 lineup and needless to say, I was floored. Picture yourself sun-kissed and dancing to the likes of...I can't even name one favorite. That would take away from all the rest.

Single-day passes are still available for the truly infamous, Lollapalooza - August 5-7, Grant Park, Chicago, IL. Take cue from Miss Moss and BTB to Chicago for a weekend of coldplay, my morning jacket, muse, cold war kids, foo fighters, and ween. Hehe, yup, I said weeeeen.

Walking on a dream

Happy summer everyone! Lately my imagination has been running wild. Perhaps it is my new addiction to the Game of Thrones fantasy series, I really don't know what it is.

Every weekend has been a time of celebration. A big congrats goes out to my dear friends Scott and Beth. S&B congrats on your nuptials. I'll post some pictures from their celebration soon.

In the meantime, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer as much as I am.
